Bhangar Mahavidyalaya, South 24 Parganas was founded in 1997. Bhangar Mahavidyalaya (BM) is a UGC-accredited institution. The college is situated in Bhangar Block I, Bhangar P.S, Baruipur subdivision under South 24 Parganas District, West Bengal. It is a government degree college of general higher education. The college currently offers different undergraduate programs under 17 departments.
With the establishment of Bhangar Mahavidyalaya, a large number of students, especially girl students from rural areas, got the opportunity to walk the path leading towards higher education. There is a library sub-committee that looks after the proper functioning of the library system. Students can also put their queries and suggestions about the library. The college has an auditorium to conduct different activities. The college also has a laboratory for students to conduct experiments to better understand and apply the theory.
Canteen: The Bhangar Mahavidyalaya College has a spacious canteen that serves different types of food, snacks, tea, coffee, etc., to the students and staff of this college. These foods are available at nominal rates for the economically weaker sections of the students.
NSS: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the college, established in 2005, organizes different types of activities like Blood Donation Camps, Seminars, Safai Abhiyan, etc. Currently, the college has a functional unit of NCC under 33 Bengal Battalion NCC (Both Boys and Girls). It is under the supervision of an NCC-trained teacher, which inculcates the spirit of discipline, patriotism, and nationalism among the students.

Scholarships at Bhangar Mahavidyalaya include the Swami Vivekananda scholarship. The Government of West Bengal has introduced this scholarship in order to help the meritorious students belonging to the economically backward families of West Bengal. The Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship Scheme is an initiative to encourage students to study at the undergraduate level within the state.
